Weight before appearance
A heavy pendant on a thin hook will pull down the earlobe and become uncomfortable after an hour. Hold the earring in your hand and assess the weight – if it's to be worn all day, consider smaller beads or a thicker earwire.
Open jump rings correctly
Always twist the jump ring sideways with two pliers – never pull it apart. If you pull the ring open, it will lose its shape and never close tightly again. This applies to both silver and steel.
Sell them in pairs – and in sets
- Always buy an extra pair of fittings: they are the part that most often gets lost.
- Earring backs in the same material make earrings more secure to wear.

What about allergies?
925 sterling silver is nickel-free and the safest choice for sensitive ears. 316L surgical steel is tolerated by most people. Avoid promising that jewellery is hypoallergenic for everyone – no one can guarantee this for all types of allergies.

A stronger ear wire or an ear stud with a loop distributes the weight best. Very thin ear wires can straighten out under the weight of heavy stones.
Do I need earring backs?
For ear wires, it's an inexpensive way to secure the jewellery. For ear studs, the back is included as standard.
Can I get the same styles in gold colour?
Most basic components are available in 925 silver, gold-plated sterling silver, and gold-plated steel, so you can create the same design in two colours.
What should I do for customers without pierced ears?
We stock ear clips, where the pendant is attached in the same way as to an ear stud. Choose lightweight pendants so the clip doesn't need to be too tight.
